As a top NFL Draft prospect, you can avoid working out at the combine if you feel your draft position is already set in stone. What you can’t avoid is the medical evaluations and test that NFL doctors put you through.
Another top prospect had some health issues revealed to NFL teams at this weeks combine. Pro Football Talk via ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Utah defensive tackle, Star Lotulelei has a heart condition, and will not work out at the combine.
Mortensen reported that Lotulelei’s left ventricle is pumping at 44 percent efficiency, below the normal range of 55 percent to 70 percent.
Lotulelei’s condition was discovered via an echocardiogram conducted as part of the normal Combine medical evaluation. The #1 rated overall player on many teams boards will now return home to Utah to undergo more tests and see how it effects his draft status.
