Smart move by Nike who decided in light of the Boston Marathon bombing to immediately pull their ‘Boston Massacre’ emblazoned shirts off the shelves.
The shirt is in reference to the Yankees vs Red Sox rivalry and has been a popular phrase which comes from the Yankees sweep of the Red Sox in a 1978 game.
Nike spokeswoman Mary Remuzzi issued the following statement, via USA Today:
“We conducted this process as quickly as possible and are confident the product has been removed from distribution,”
No question Nike did the classy thing.
