Is Calvin Johnson hinting at missing a game or two to allow his injured ankle to heal some?
Johnson did not practice today due to the high ankle sprain he suffered in last weekend’s 17-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills, and is actually holding out hope that he can play this weekend.
“Definitely,” Johnson said before practice. “Like I say, every week, just working to get back from this thing in the training room, spending most of my time there during the day. So we’re doing everything in our power to get back on the field.”
Johnson has no interest playing a decoy, and told the media that he knows he may need to sit out a game or two.
He said it will take “a lot of treatment” for him to get on the field this week and acknowledged that sitting out a game might be the best course of action.
“Some of these things require some rest,” Johnson said. “You can’t keep on pounding on it and expect it to get better.”
