Braves pitcher Arodys Vizcaino has been suspended 80 games for using performance-ehancing drugs, MLB announced Thursday. Yahoo Sports was the first to report the suspension. He tested positive for Stanozolol
Vizcaino was optioned to Triple-A on Monday. He will serve his suspension in the minors. Vizcaino was considered a top-100 prospect by Baseball Americafrom 2010-13. Unfortunately, his career stalled after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2012.
The right-hander originally signed with the Yankees as an international free agent in 2007. He was then traded to Atlanta in 2009 before being dealt to the Cubs in 2012. He was then traded back to Atlanta in November.
Going 80 games without a paycheck will definitely hurt the pockets for Vizcaino, and his career path certainly seems to be trending in the wrong direction.
