Alabama hasn’t been hurting for running backs lately. From Mark Ingram, to Trent Richardson, to Eddie Lacy, to TJ Yeldon and Derrick Henry, the Crimson Tide has been blessed with talent at the position.
However with Yeldon opting to head to the NFL and Kenyan Drake rehabbing a serious injury, the depth chart is a tad bit murky after Henry.
Former blue chip running back recruit Bo Scarbrough is expected to contribute this fall, but after suffering a knee injury during spring practice he could need a rehab stint.
Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough suffered a knee injury in Friday’s practice. What’s not known as of now is the severity of the injury.
“You’ve got to take MRIs and do all those things, so I don’t speculate on these kind of injuries,” Nick Saban said. “We’ll see, and we’ll let you know when we find out.”
Losing Scarbrough for a significant amount of time would not be good for the Crimson Tide, as Alabama already finds itself a bit thin at running back. Altee Tenpenny transferred after last season, and Tyren Jones was dismissed from the team. With Scarbrough out only Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake received multiple carries for the Tide last season.
The arrival this summer of five-star freshman Damien Harris will help.
While help is on the way in former of five-star Damien Harris, the Crimson Tide certainly is walking a fine line as far as bodies go at running back. With Tenpenny transferring, and Jones being dismissed, they suddenly don’t have an overabundance of talent saturating the depth chart.
