The previous series the Giants drove down the field into the redzone into 1st and Goal. 2 straight plays the Giants hand the ball to Rashad Jennings to run the clock down. According NJ.com Jennings says he was told not to score on those plays.
“They told me not to score”
But it was not Coughlin who told Jennings not to score. Tom Coughlin says he intended to go up by 10 points. It was Eli who made the decision not to score to quickly. He explained why he told Jennings to not score during a Monday conference call.
“I thought they had one timeout left and they might let us score to get the ball back, So I told Rashad, ‘Go down at the 1-inch line and don’t score.’ This did not come from the sideline. It was me, and I was wrong. I cannot be the one in that situation to inform a back. That’s not my decision, in that scenario. I made a mistake.”
