After pushing the Chicago Bulls to six games in the first of the playoffs last year, expectations were fairly high for the young Milwaukee Bucks heading into this season.
Unfortunately, the Bucks have took a couple of steps backwards.
Currently, Jason Kidd’s squad find themselves six games behind the eight seed, as they’re sitting as the 12th seed in the eastern conference.
With young talents such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker and Khris Middleton, it’s confusing as to why they’re not showing improvement.
First things first, the Bucks are in the middle of the pack defensively, as they allow 103.3 points per game.
However, the bigger issue comes offensively.
It starts and ends with Michael Carter-Williams.

Milwaukee ranks 23rd in points per game (99.3) and they’re just an average outside shooting team at best. Only Khris Middleton and Jerryd Bayless shoot over 33% from distance on their entire roster.
MCW has never been known for his three-point shooting, so it’s unfair to expect him to solve this problem, but in order for Milwaukee to reach the next level, something has to change.
The Syracuse product is a career 25% three-point shooter.
Sure, MCW has elite size for his position, but it’s not as if he’s making this team elite defensively and considering they have great size at other positions, MCW is essentially expendable.
