If you think you’ve gotten Kobe coverage before, you haven’t seen anything yet. Every part of his career and life are being dissected and some pretty cool details are emerging. TMZ did a great job investigating the details of Kobe’s famous chopper that he has been known to use to beat traffic and get to Staples Center on time:
First off, Kobe doesn’t own the chopper he’s been using to get from his home in Orange County to Staples Center — he rents it … and has been for years. But he’s got a great relationship with the company that owns it — and they’ve always dropped everything for Mamba when he’s needed a lift.
The best part of the story was giving a teammate a ride to the doctor:
He used it in 2010 to get to the Lakers championship parade — and in 2012, he fired up the aircraft to help teammate Steve Blake get to a doctor’s appointment on time.
He won’t have to commute to Staples Center as often, but if he continues to live in LA he might want to keep their number. Once you use a cheat code like summoning a helicopter, you can’t go back to civilian life. It would seem archaic.
