It’s tough to imagine Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a UFC Fighter but then again, would he have succeeded in that? The Rock revealed that he thought about going into the UFC.
Many of us growing up saw The Rock on wrestling and to imagine him in another ring, or in this case, the octagon, would be quite the scene. You can anything that you put your mind to but at one point, The Rock considered a career in the UFC. The type of training that he would’ve have to have endured after the WWE would’ve been time consuming and he was 34. If he had followed the UFC path, his first fight might’ve occurred when he was 36 or 37. The transition is brutal.
“There was a time there where I thought, man, I achieved everything I wanted to achieve in WWE, my movie career is floundering a little bit, what do I do?” Johnson said. “I was relatively still young, I think I was 34. I thought, oh well maybe UFC. Maybe I should do something like that.”
His acting career now is doing better than ever and he probably went down the right path.
“In my head, I felt like it was at least a two-year process for me to even get in the [cage], let alone the UFC,” Johnson said. “I wasn’t quite too sure what to do or what kind of people to put around me at the time, so the idea kind of fizzled out and I continued to stay on the path of movie making.”
Since he wasn’t able to fight, maybe there’s still a chance he can own a share since the UFC recently sold.
