Lifetime network is at it again and ready to bring the masses another biopic that is certain to cause a social media stir. Get ready for the story of Michel’e, the first lady of Death Row Records.
According to Billboard.com, Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge and Me tells the story of the high-pitched R&B sensation who rose to prominence while being ensnared in one of rap music most compelling love triangles.
Surviving Compton will tackle the Los Angeles native’s journey through the turbulent days of N.W.A‘s stardom after being signed to Eazy E’s Ruthless Records, becoming Dr. Dre‘s girlfriend and forming romantic ties to Suge Knight. Michel’le, best known for her 1990 hit single “No More Lies,” will be played by Lincoln Heights star Rhyon Nicole Brown.
The film, will also feature rising actor Curtis Hamilton as Dre, Scream actor Jamie Kennedy as music manager Jerry Heller, and R. Marcos Taylor reprising his role as Suge Knight after playing the hip-hop mogul in the 2015 blockbuster hit Straight Outta Compton.
Unlike past Lifetime projects, the Michel’e biopic will reportedly feature her original music so grab your helium and prepare to sing along.
