In a little bit of Black History magic, D.C. based teacher Patrick Harris is committed to protecting the tresses of his first grade students. In a video which has been shared over 22,000 times on Twitter, Harris is shown instructing a group of very focused students on how to properly tie a du-rag to keep their hair in place.
The video, posted Wednesday, follows the viral video that showed teacher Barry White, Jr. greeting each of his 5th grade students with personalized handshakes. Black men are often under-represented and overlooked in education. It’s great to see these young men making a difference in the lives of others, namely those who resemble themselves.
