This is very impressive. There’s such a demand on student-athletes these days, emphasis on the athlete part. We often forget they’re students until it’s time to talk about compensation, then it’s they get a free education.
We’ve seen a number of athletes document their struggles and these stories like Walls’ are rare and a breath of fresh air.
CBS 19 does a profile on student athletes who’ll be going pro in other fields. This profile on Marlon Walls is very cool.
Wells is a safety at Stephen F. Austin and is a 4.0 engineering student. College is all about time management and he clearly has it down. Walls explains how he does it and his passion for engineering.
It’s just all about time management. Everyone gets the same 24 hours in a day.
“Growing up, I always knew I had an interest in math. In the 3rd grade, I was always the fastest guy in the class at multiplication tables.”
Walls has accepted a summer internship at Johns Hopkins University where he’ll work on a space probe called the Europa propulsion module.
He said he wants to be an inspiration and he absolutely is.
