A Texas couple are in custody after a routine burglary call uncovered the pair attempting to steal approximately $1 million dollars in meth-laced lollipops from a stash house.
According to KTLA 5 in Los Angeles, Evonne Mick and David Salinas were arrested after neighboring residents placed calls to 911 to report a robbery in progress. Responding officers arrested the duo as they tried to escape with the drugs in tow.
“They had put so many narcotics in the back of the vehicle, so they were trying to flee, and they couldn’t even close the back hatch to their vehicle,” an official said during a press conference.
The report goes on to say that Mick is believed to have once resided at the residence that housed the meth-laced candy. Molded in the shapes of Batman, R2D2 and Yoda, the contraband, with street value of $20-$40 each, was set to be distributed to children in the area.
Mick has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and her bond is set at an estimated $1 million, according to court records. No additional information on the owner of the residence has been made available.
