A University of Alabama sorority member by the name of Harley Barber went on a racist rant in a video posted to Twitter on Martin Luther King Jr Day. She felt that since she lives in the south and because we all sadly live in a time where supremacist comments are swept under the rug, that she is free to use the N-word whenever she pleases.
Former Alabama player and current New York Giants Safety Landon Collins took to Twitter and called her out for her ignorance and said that her Alpha Phi sorority and and Alabama’s football team does not need people like her cheering them on. He also noted that this type of racism isn’t surprising as he thinks that this isn’t the first time that Barber spewed hate in her life.
“Alpha Phi, ‘Be weary of the company you keep for they are a reflection of who you are or who you want to be,” said Collins. “Harley Barber didn’t wake up this morning and decide to spew racist rhetoric for the first time in her life. Therefore, I believe I speak on behalf of my brothers and myself, when I say, the Bama football team does not need the support, cheers or high fives of anyone who condones this type of intolerant, hateful behavior. #BuiltByBama.”
