The Dallas Cowboys have reached a contract extension with one of its young stars.
No, it is not Ezekiel Elliott.
The Dallas Cowboys agreed to a 5-yr contract extension with right tackle La’el Collins.
This according to multiple sources.
Collins, formerly out of LSU, gets a new deal that makes him one of the top-5 paid RT’s in the NFL.
Collins’s extension is for $10 million per year for the next 5 seasons.
He reportedly will receive $35 million in guaranteed money.
The highest in guaranteed money ever for a right tackle.
Obviously those around the NFL are surprised that yet another Cowboys player not named Ezekiel Elliott is getting a contract extension.
Collins’s deal does however impact Ezekiel Elliott in that the tackle’s new deal frees up $5.7 million in cap space this season.
This could create additional room to add to Elliott’s contract if, and when it gets done.
Elliott is currently holding out for a new contract that would make him the highest paid running back in the NFL.
