Netflix is close to securing the bid to be the destination of the documentary currently in the works headed by Ava DuVernay which seeks to chronicle the life and death of slain Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle.
Details on exactly when we can expect the documentary to be available to stream on Netflix are unknown, what we do know is the ‘When They See Us’ director Ava DuVernay will direct the project and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation will produce the yet to be named documentary.
Back in March 2019, Nipsey Hussle was gunned down just outside of the Marathon Clothing store on the very corner he so often referenced in his music, his alleged killer Eric Holder was believed to have committed the murder and has since been arrested and held without bond.
Following his tragic death, Nipsey Hussle won both Best Rap Song and Bes Performance for ‘Racks in The Middle’ and was also honored at the grammy with performances from his peers in the music industry, Meek Mill and Roddy Rich were among the performers.
For now not much has been revealed about which portions of Nipsey Hussle’s life and career will be covered or any of the individuals who will appear in the documentary, the family has let it be known the documentary will not be rushed for monetary gain or under time-sensitive pressure.
