Nothing has gone well for the seasoned quarterback since Russell Wilson moved to Denver from Seattle in 2022. His mantra, “Let’s Ride,” which he used to inspire his hometown, has become a meme. Later, earlier this year, the Broncos cut him loose. Wilson’s decline has been so severe.
Fortunately, Russ showed promise, and Mike Tomlin signed him for the 2024 campaign. Unfortunately, the veteran missed six weeks of action after aggravating his calf ailment before to the first week. At last, he appears healthy enough to play against the Jets in week seven.
Adam Schefter speaks about Russell Wilson’s prospects vs Jets
Furthermore, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter’s story, Russ’ supporters can now finally celebrate.
On ESPN NFL Live, Adam stated: “Russell Wilson was taking some first-team reps during practice today for the first time this season. If you follow the breadcrumbs, this is trending towards Russell Wilson starting on Sunday night against the New York Jets and Davante Adams,”
According to Schefter, Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Steelers, stated that he is open to starting Russell Wilson against the Jets. Schefter noted that it doesn’t seem like Tomlin would openly embrace the concept of starting Russ, then giving him first-team reps, only to start Justin Fields in order to bolster his claims.
In this case, Schefter is undoubtedly making sense. For the simple reason that Tomlin is not one of those unsure coaches who avoid making difficult decisions.
