Bill Belichick, the head football coach at the University of North Carolina, and his girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, are trying to turn their relationship’s detractors into a positive economic opportunity.
Belichick and Hudson registered a trademark for the word “Gold Digger” with the goal of using it to create a line of jewelry and key chains, according to Darren Rovell of Cllct.
According to Rovell, Belichick and Hudson have filed numerous trademark applications this year, including “Gold Digger,” “Chapel Bill,” “Belestrator,” “Trail of Salty Tears,” “No Days Off,” and “The Belichick Way.”
Following six Super Bowl victories as head coach of the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2023, Belichick, 73, is about to start his first season at UNC.
When Belichick and the 24-year-old Hudson made their connection public in June 2024, there was a lot of criticism from outsiders and speculation about Hudson’s intentions.
During a Belichick interview with CBS to promote his book in the spring, Hudson was particularly outspoken and occasionally seized charge.
On the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast (via ESPN’s David Hale), Pablo Torre revealed that Hudson had been barred from UNC institutions and that those close to Belichick were “worried” that Hudson would degrade his reputation.
However, Hudson’s ban was later denied by the University of North Carolina in a statement.
Belichick and Hudson are obviously trying to turn a bad reputation into a lucrative venture, even though the doubts and criticism surrounding the relationship aren’t going to go away anytime soon.
