Pistons and Kings Interested in Draymond Green

Draymond Green shocked some people in the NBA world recently after he opted out of the last year of his contract worth $27.5 million so he can become a free agent.

Re-signing with the Warriors is still an option but no one truly knows where he will end up.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst though, the two teams that could become legit threats to sign the former DPOY are the Kings and Pistons saying

“There are some teams out there with cap space that are intriguing options for him: The Detroit Pistons, which would be home; the Sacramento Kings have cleaned up their books and opened up a bunch of salary cap space after a draft-night deal. Both of those teams have interest in him. But I don’t think either are compelling enough to have him leave the Warriors, especially if they’re willing to make him a representative contract offer – and all signs point to them doing so,”

While the Pistons have cap space to sign him, it doesn’t really make sense for either side. The Kings make a lot of sense though. Teams like the Mavericks and Hawks make a lot of sense also but don’t have as much cap to sign him.

He could sign for less than the $27.5 per year and get a long term deal around $18-22 million per year but it all depends on who is willing to give him the deal he wants. With the new CBA rules though it seems like teams are wanting to save money more than ever.
