A Florida man was arrested after authorities discovered he was hiding his fugitive, legless girlfriend in a plastic storage tote.
The Bradenton Herald reports that U.S. Marshals Task Force members went to the home of Joseph Carr Jr. seeking his girlfriend  Krystle Lee Anderson, a wanted fugitive that held people inside an Orange County Burger King hostage with a firearm, according to the sheriff’s office in 2015.
At first, Carr responded she wasn’t there but authorities eventually discovered Anderson, who lost both of her legs in a police shooting, in a plastic tote hidden in the bedroom. Deputies spotted her through a window.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Anderson lost both of her legs in the incident when an officer went inside the Burger King and told Anderson to drop her weapon. The officer responding to the call reportedly feared for his life when she raised the weapon at him and shot her in the legs.
Anderson was later charged with armed kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment but did not appear in court. The gun used in the incident was later discovered to be a BB gun.
Currently, Carr faces a charge of resisting arrest with additional charges to be tacked on in the coming weeks. Anderson surrendered to deputies and was taken to the Polk County jail.
