Art Rooney II, the owner of the Steelers, stated last month that he anticipated hearing from quarterback Aaron Rodgers regarding his plans for 2026 before the draft, but it appears that this timeframe has changed.
According to NFL Media, the Steelers have not heard from Rodgers on his participation, and it is no longer anticipated that the quarterback will make a decision before Thursday’s start of the first round in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers’ offseason program began a few weeks ago, and this week they will have a three-day optional minicamp. Will Howard, a 2025 sixth-round pick, will be the team’s top quarterback at minicamp because Rodgers isn’t present.
The only other quarterback on the Steelers’ roster right now is Mason Rudolph. When Rodgers is ready to reveal his plans, the Steelers may use a high choice on another quarterback to indicate how they expect things to turn out.
