Le’Veon Bell is all about the benjamins and heading into week 10 has not reported to the Pittsburg Steelers, and at this point, he may not report this season per Clutchpoints.
A source from The Athletic says him returning this season might not happen at all and could be designated on a third-year franchise tag, it would be worth around $25 million, which would be one of the highest contracts in the league.
“A source confirmed to The Athletic that Bell is now contemplating whether or not he will show up by the Nov. 13 franchise tag deadline based on newly learned information from the collective bargaining agreement that would allow him to be deemed as a third-year franchise player in 2019 rather than to revert to the second year, even if he doesn’t report.”
Bell has to miss playing the game you’d think, but he’s also looking for security in this sport. Maybe Bell will land a huge deal after not showing up at all this season, we will see how this goes. By the way, the longest NFL holdout was previously Joey Galloways, it lasted 101 days – through training camp and 8 weeks of the 1999 season. Galloway wanted #1 receiver type money due to his previous production. He returned to the Seahawks without the shiny new deal. Le’Veon is 9 weeks in and looking at 10 and maybe the entire season.
