Believe it or not it has been four weeks since Roethlisberger got busy in a Burger King bathroom (actually it was a club, but I digress).
After many twists and turns the Milledgeville police are ready to turn their case over to the local prosecutor and he will make the decision on if Roethlisberger will be charged or not.
Our friends at Profootballtalk.com explains the process:
The prosecutor, will consider whether there’s enough evidence to justify the filing of charges.
The decision won’t depend on whether the prosecutor thinks Ben is guilty. The question is whether the prosecutor thinks that a conviction can be obtained under the very high standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
In this regard, the prosecutor has considerable discretion.
This is huge because I have it on good authority that if Roethlisberger is charged he will be suspended indefinitely by Roger Goodell.
No one knows how much or how little evidence the police has. No one knows if the accuser has been paid off or she is still cooperating .
If I had to put money on it, I say he doesn’t get charge for the simple reason the prosecutor doesn’t want to be known as “Marcia Clark”.
Think about it.
