When we reported that Tom Cable wouldn’t be retained as head coach of the Raiders it was mentioned that conspiracy theorists thought that offensive coordinator Hue Jackson had something to do with it.
The rumors are that Jackson had been undermining Cable to Al Davis.
Those rumors gained a little more steam now that it appears that Jackson will be taking over.
An 8-8 record, the Raiders’ best record since 2002, was not good enough for owner Al Davis, as he informed coach Tom Cable Tuesday night that the team will not pick up the option in his contract.
Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson will take over as the new head coach, a source close to Jackson said.
If true Jackson has to know that it is playoffs or bust.
Coming off an 8-8 season the Raiders will be expected to compete again with the upper echelon of the AFC, not to just be average.
