Danny Ainge: Jeff Green Will Have Bigger Role, Pierce May Come off Bench

Is Danny Ainge high?

A lot of people think he isn’t that good of a GM, just that he got lucky that Kevin McHale gift wrapped him Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen health held up.

It was Ainge who doomed the Celtics for failure by trading Kendrick Perkins and deciding to bet on the health of Shaq.  Now he is saying that Jeff Green role will be expanding and Paul Pierce might come off the bench.

On the starting lineup changing:

“Maybe there’s a change of roles. Maybe Paul comes off the bench, cuts down on his minutes. Maybe we find a way to get Jeff more minutes. His role will expand if he’s back here next year. There’s no question about that … “

“It wouldn’t totally shock me if there’s a change in the starting lineup, but that’s just way too tough to tell.”

On the possibility of trading one of the Big Three:

“I would have to look into that if a good trade came about”

I am sure that Paul Pierce will take well to being subtly told that Jeff Green will be taking his minutes. If anything the end of the Celtics mini dynasty has as much to do with Ainge incompetence than the Big 3 getting old and Rondo not being able to make a 15 footer.

  1. Truth is the C’s just got beat athletically. The C’s big three are all better shooters than their counterparts in Miami but those guys are simply younger and can get to the basket a lot easier than they can. They need a big slashing swingman. I dont think Green is that guy, he shoots too many threes.

  2. I originally moved to Southern Florida 5 calendar years ago (2007). I settled down here for about 9 thirty day periods at that time and progressed to ramble around the country. Within a year of leaving I decided to come back for good, it was the fishing that called me back. There’s is nothing like it, if you have never ever fished South Florida then you are missing out– that simple.
