Bob Arum is a master promoter.
He knows how to sway public opinion, sometimes he does this by exaggerating and other times by out right lying. I hope he is telling the truth in regards to Manny Pacquiao being open to the drug tests, but I caution you to take it with a grain of salt.
Larry Brown Sports has the details:
Tucked into Lance Pugmire’s story on Floyd Mayweather Jr., who’s preparing for a September fight with Victor Ortiz, was this important nugget on Pacquiao’s new position.
“Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, says his fighter is willing to accept being subjected to blood testing rules under the World Anti-Doping Agency code, which keeps the blood sample schedule unannounced.”
Arum is Pacquiao’s promoter, but Manny makes the decisions. Until I hear those words come out of Pacquiao’s mouth I won’t believe it. But I will be holding Arum to his statement.
Even before we even think about Pacquiao vs. Mayweather they both have to get through their next fight.
If they both win, talks will once again heat up for a fight May 2012, but I won’t believe it is happening until both men are in the ring and the bell sounds.
