Cincinnati vs. Xavier Brawl, Yancy Gates Sucker Punches Kenny Frease (Video)
I was sitting in Applebees having a leisurely Dollarnaire lunch and they had the Cincy vs. Xavier game on. It was on a TV that was farthest away from me and I didn’t have my glasses on (normally only wear my glasses at night) so things were a little blurry.
But as I casually watched I saw what appeared to be a picture perfect short right thrown by one of the Cincy’s players as brawl broke out.
I couldn’t be sure, but when I got home to write the story someone had tweeted me the pic you see above.
This is when I realized someone on Cincy has one punch knockout power. That individual has been ID as Yancy Gates. Even Antonio Margarito was like “Damn Homie”. The problem of course is that it is a clear sucker punch by Gates, nothing manly about that. The Frease gets stomped on while he is trying to crawl out of the pile. That is going to swell up terribly overnight.
Expect multiple suspensions to come from this.
Check out the video of the brawl.

Stuff like that should never happen in college sports.
it’s actually very sad to see
That commentator is funny, he’s acting like ppl weren’t fighting in basketball 20 and 30 years ago.
Indefinite suspension for #13. He’s the one that stomped on Frease while he was down.
Yancy Gates deserves 15+ games for that sucker punch and swinging at a few other players.
Wells should get 3-5 games for the shove.
A strong message needs to sent immediately! Everyone involved in the brawl should contenplate at a two to three game suspension. The more serious offenders (Yates and # 13) should face criminal charges. Stompimg someone while their on the ground and then throwing a sucker punch that causes great bodily injury is most definitely a serious matter. The two BOYS that gave the interview after the game should also receive suspensions. It appears in the interview that their attitude is we will show up and play and show out after the game with physical violence. They need time to think about their attitude regarding this situation. All involved should be greatly embarrassed! This was selfish egos out of control. These BOYS did not consider the effects their actios would have on the rest of the team or school and apparently did not give a damn. School athletic directors, coaches and officials need let these know that will not be tolerated. Some of you earned the priviledge of a scholarship to attend these institutions and if you can not respect that , then you should go elsewhere.
