Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that “everybody involved in the LeSean McCoy contract negotiations is relatively optimistic that an extension will get done before the Eagles report to Lehigh in July for two-a-days.” Both Eagles head coach Andy Reid and McCoy’s agent Drew Rosenhaus have mentioned that they’d like to get a deal done in the near future and given that McCoy has become, arguably, the team’s best weapon in recent years, it makes sense to work something out before he becomes a free agent following the 2012 season. Domowitch believes that McCoy is ”better equipped emotionally than [DeSean] Jackson to keep contract matters from consuming him.” There will most likely be more regarding a possible contract extension for McCoy in the coming weeks.
