Wizards are trying really hard to shed their image of a team that doesn’t care about winning. They have gotten rid of players that attitudes has been much more the problem than their skills on the basketball court.
The latest domino to fall is Andray Blatche.
The franchise had to cut ties with Andray Blatche and they finally did that, using the amnesty provision on the veteran forward on Tuesday.
The Wizards will still have to pay $23-million remaining on Blatche’s contract but the salary will not be on the Wizards’ books anymore. Blatche can continue his NBA career elsewhere, if a team is willing to take a risk on a player who was basically deactivated the final 21 games of last season because he wasn’t in good enough shape to play. That was probably the final straw for Blatche, who had certainly worn out his welcome with the fans in D.C. who routinely booed him when he was healthy and playing at Verizon Center.
