Lakers fan want to forget the SMUSH YEARS, but not me I think the SMUSH YEARS are a very interesting time in the legend that is Kobe Bryant.
From the time Shaq leaves and Gasol arrives, Kobe Bryant was in his absolute prime.
The fact that he dragged some of those teams to the playoffs in a loaded Western Conference was a more amazing feat than him winning five championships.
Those teams were beyond awful, if you took Kobe off those teams 10 wins wouldn’t have been guaranteed. I think it was also the time Kobe realized especially in the playoffs no matter how great of a player you are, you need help to win titles in the NBA and elite help at that.
Kobe reminisced about the SMUSH YEARS and he doesn’t remember them fondly.
Kobe Bryant is at his sarcastic, snarky best when he is talking about the 2005-2007 Lakers.

Kobe Bryant: “Smush Parker was the worst. He shouldn’t have been in the NBA but we were too cheap to pay for a point guard.”

Kobe Bryant: “I was shooting 45 times a game. What was I supposed to do? Pass it into Chris Mihm and Kwame Brown?”

These last few years of HONEST KOBE are going to be fun.
