Well the 4th installment of Pacquiao vs Marquez is a day away and the buzz around the MGM is quite subdued for a fight of this magnitude. Sure the weigh-in was packed with the hardcore boxing fans and both fighters had larger groups of national supporters, but the casual fans aren’t as prevalent.
Maybe it’s the fact that Pacquiao lost his last fight or that everyone is just ready to see a fight between him and Floyd already, but in either case this fight lacks the popularity of the first three.
Unlike some of the other huge boxing sagas in history the match-up between these two fighters isn’t spearheaded by anger and dislike for each other. They just happen to be two fighters who have perfectly matched styles and are going to give the audience 12 rounds of fist flying, fast paced, boxing action.
Juan Manuel Marquez weighed in at 143 pounds and looked to be bulkier than ever before and Manny Pacquiao weighed in at the 147 pound limit but looked considerably leaner than Marquez. The added weight is supposed to give Pacquiao extra strength behind his punches that he’s lacked over his last few fights.
It’s apparent that the Pacquiao camp doesn’t want this fight to go to the cards. Both fighters looked ready for tomorrow’s fight and the Boxing community as a whole needs this fight to be captivating if it hopes to compete with the UFC and MMA.
