The New York Jets are playing with fire, and I hope Jets brass mainly new GM John Idzik knows what they are doing. Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Buccaneers are willing to trade their 2013 first round pick for Darrelle Revis.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation tell PFT that the Buccaneers are willing to send the 13th overall pick in the 2013 draft to the Jets for Revis. The Jets, however, want “a lot more” than this year’s first-round pick.
It’s unclear what else the Jets want. Last month, the Vikings got a first-round pick in 2013, a seventh-round pick in 2013, and a third-round pick in 2014 for receiverPercy Harvin. It’s possible the Jets want that, or something close to it.
It had been previously reported that the Buccaneers preferred to give up their 2014 first round pick instead. That would give the Jets the #9 and #13 pick in the draft which is now close to two weeks away.
I’m not a GM but if Revis is not moved before or during the draft, then I’m not sure he’ll be able to be traded. Revis for all his talk about wanting to remain in New York, is going to walk as a free agent in 2014, and if that happens, Idzik should be fired as fast as he was hired.
