The Green Bay Packers have a ton of money to dole out, and some big decisions to make this off-season. As we’ve reported on a daily basis, the Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are getting closer to a mega contract.
You can now add the name of another Green Bay star that the team feels it needs to lock up. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Matthews will get a new deal done sometime in the near future, and it will pay him more than $13 million a season.
Matthews will become the highest paid linebacker in the game. The 26-year-old Matthews has 42.5 sacks in his four seasons with the Packers, including 13 last season.
He has accumulated 204 tackles, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions in 58 career games since being drafted 26th overall in the 2009 draft out of USC.
