Dab a little holy water on him before he takes BP and he’ll be alright.
Yankees fans have seen Jeter make his debut, only to follow a sort of reoccurring theme and get hurt then return to the DL.
It’s now or never seemingly, Jeter played a simulated game on Saturday and felt good enough to play on Sunday. Jeter was eligible to start on Saturday, but the Yankees decided to play it safe and let him have 8 at bats at their minor league team in Staten Island. Yankees skipper Joe Girardi stated, via ESPN NY :
“[He] ran first to third, singles, second to home, had him stand and take ground balls, and kind of stand there — simulate as much of the game [as possible],…Because the one thing that you can talk about is, you can be in tremendous shape, but playing shape is a little bit different. Cause you gotta get used to standing around, starting and stopping. So we had him do all that, and as of right now, he came out very well. So we’ll see how he feels tomorrow.”
Timing couldn’t possibly be better, as the Yankees have lost 2 straight to division rival Tampa Bay Rays, and the gap from 4th to 1st continues to widen.
The Yankees are on an alarming drought without any home runs hit, as power upgrade will help. Let’s wish the Captain all the best.
