According to a report courtesy Paul Myerberg of USA Today Sports, Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer, has dismissed claims stating that he was responsible for turning in Florida Gators running back coach Brian White, for a recruiting violation.

Meyer, who coached the Gators for five seasons before joining the the Buckeyes in 2011, apparently alerted the NCAA to a “bump” violation that White supposedly committed with New York running back Curtis Samuel, according to an earlier report from FoxSports.com.

Samuel is a four-star prospect for the 2014 class and has gotten offers from several universities including the Gators and Buckeyes. While the NCAA conducts an investigation, Florida coach Will Muschamp, has prohibited White from going on any recruiting trips for the next few days.

Meyers sent a text message to The Gainsville Sun, denying an personal involvement in the accusation.

“It is absolutely not true that I turned in the University of Florida,” Meyer said, according to The Sun. “Weeks after, I learned our compliance guy (without any coach involvement) forwarded an article to the conference office. This is standard procedure. Once again, zero coach involvement.”

College football is a cutthroat business, with every team trying to get a competitive edge in every aspect of the game, especially recruiting. Don’t think there’s any question that Meyer left any loyalty he had to the Gators in Florida, because this isn’t the first time he has reported them for a violation.

Urban would be a fool to report UF for any recruiting violations (wouldn’t suprise me though) considering a couple of the coaches there probably know stuff about him/recruiting policies that have been swept under the rug
