John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats became the first team to be ranked #1 in the coaches poll after finishing the season unranked, and many have touted his freshman class as the best since Michigan’s Fab Five. So naturally, expectations are high heading into this season. But Florida center Patric Young warns them it won’t be easy.
“I hope they think they can just walk on the court and they’re going to beat everybody,” Young said Thursday at SEC media days. “I hope that’s what they think.
“As soon as they play a real top team, they’re going to see it’s not just a walk in the park. One and done is not for everybody.”
Young has a point. As defending SEC champions and ranked 8th in the preseason poll, the Gators will most likely be their toughest SEC opponent, and in March anything can happen. It’s never a walk in the park in NCAA basketball, but I’m sure Calipari has told them that.
