The 49ers thought Mike Iupati initially fractured his ankle after he had to leave the NFC Championship loss to the Seahawks.
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that Iupati actually fractured his left fibula, an injury which will not require him to have surgery.
Iupati avoided ligament damage and is expected to be recovered in eight weeks, and he should be ready to go in time for the start of the 49ers’ off-season program.
