With most everybody speculating on DeSean Jackson’s past and whether or not he’s involved in gangs, NFL teams around the league have to be interested in the playmaker who just had his best season in his career in Philadelphia.
Some of the teams mentioned in connection to DeSean include Washington, Oakland and New England. The Lions added Golden Tate in free agency but by all accounts are still looking to upgrade their receiving core. They haven’t exactly jumped headfirst into the DeSean sweepstakes, but head coach Jim Caldwell spoke on the situation today on ESPN’s Mike and Mike.
“We haven’t discussed him,” Caldwell said, via the team’s official website. “I can say he’s a playmaker, a guy that can get it done. At this point in time, we have not had any discussions. In this business, you never say never.”
While I’m sure Lions fans will daydream about an offense featuring Calvin Johnson, DeSean Jackson ,and Golden Tate, I think they will stay just that. Daydreams.
The Lions don’t have the cap space to offer DeSean more money than the other teams interested so it would probably have to be on a discount if they have any shot at getting him.
