GGG is on a 17 fight knock out streak and his dominance has elite fighters ducking him like he was breathing fire.
According to ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael GGG is looking for a quick turn around.
“Golovkin will make his 12th title defense in the fall (and, undoubtedly, will be eyeing his 18th consecutive knockout). K2 Promotions managing director Tom Loeffler told ESPN.com that HBO is holding a date for Golovkin in October and November, although the Golovkin team prefers to go in October.”
Loeffler went on to discuss the process of finding an opponent:
“We are just working on which opponents are available and willing to get in the ring with GGG,” Loeffler said.
Aside from quality of opponent, location is also a major factor for the GGG camp.
“We are exploring options in L.A.,” said Loeffler. “Our plan has always been to have a GGG fight on the West Coast because he trains in Big Bear [California] and to compliment the fan base he has built up on the East Coast.”
GGG will have this problem until he shows signs of weakness. If he keeps knocking out opponents with body blows and left hooks the big-name fighters such as Cotto and Canelo will dodge him.
