In 2014, the Kansas City Chiefs did something that no other team in the NFL did — they did not record a single receiving touchdown by a wide-receiver. GM John Dorsey made it clear in December that he would be addressing the issues at WR for his team, and today the Chiefs made a decision to let two of them go.
Donnie Avery and A.J. Jenkins were cut after both having dismal seasons. Avery only played in six games in 2014 and only gained 772 receiving yards and two touchdowns in his two seasons with the Chiefs.
Jenkins was drafted by the 49ers with the 3oth pick in the 2012 draft and has only been able to gain 223 yards on 17 catches during his 3 years in the NFL.
The Chiefs became the first team since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 to go a whole season without a wide receiver to score a TD.
One thing is certain, you can expect the Chiefs to look for WR help in the off-season. Both through free agency and the draft.
