Ohio native and Duke incoming freshman Luke Kennard was awarded the prestigous honor of being named Parade National Player of the Year.
Blue Devils’ head coach Mike Krxyzewski has inherited one of his best freshman classes that includes five-star freshmen Brandon Ingram, Chase Jeter, Derryck Thornton, and the aforementioned Kennard. Scout.com has all of the freshman with five star rankings and ESPN has all with five stars, but oddly Kennard was ranked with four stars.
Kennard is a 6’5 sharpshooting lefty that can get buckets in a variety of ways and is heady playmaker. Earlier in his senior season he dropped 52 points in a game, so scoring comes easy for this Blue Devil.
Check out some footage of his senior year below.
Kennard has earned almost every national honor possible including being selected to the 2014 U18 USA Basketball (earning a gold medal), Jordan Brand Classic, and McDonald’s All American games.
The Duke crazies can’t wait for Kennard to lace up his first game in Cameron Indoor Stadium this upcoming season.
