Michigan is slowly but surely recruiting some of the top talent in the Nation to strengthen their basketball program.
On Monday, Tyus Battle, a five-star prospect playing shooting guard, verbally committed to Big Blue after receiving offers from prestigious schools such as Duke, Louisville, Syracuse, and Arizona.
As to why Battle ultimately chose Michigan over the others:
“I really love the basketball situation and coach Beilein and the rest of the staff,” Battle told Evan Daniels of Scout.com. “They are amazing coached. You can see how they develop their players like Caris, Nik Stauskas and Tim Hardaway. That’s a big deal to me.”
The Edison, N.J. native is rated the No. 12 player in the nation by 247 Sports. He joins Jon Teske and Austin Davis in Michigan’s class of 2016.
Convincing the 12th best player coming out of High School to commit is no small feat for the Wolverines (it was more than likely made a lot easier after Battle saw Stauskas receive National attention).
Their program will continue to improve with each and every big name prospect to pass through those doors.
