I preached for months that this year’s NFL draft class was incredible deep at the wide receiver position. So deep that some guys that would typically go on day one would end up having to wait their turn until day two. That was exactly the case with Arizona State’s Jaelen Strong.
Strong was one of the best wide receivers in this draft class, but a wrist injury concerned some teams and he slid to the third round despite most analysts giving him a fringe first round grade. Strong has decided to use this as motivation, as he has decided to wear number eleven since their were ten receivers taken ahead of him.
Can’t blame a guy for feeling slighted after a draft day slide. I thought Strong would have been gone well before the third round as well, so I think Houston got a steal. If this is the type of thing that will motivate him to do well and prove the teams that passed on him wrong then I won’t try to stop him.
