It will be a homecoming for the ages in Columbus this Saturday. The Ohio State Buckeyes return to Ohio Stadium to host the Hawaii Warriors in their first home game since claiming the National Championship last season. Led by a high-octane offense that is widely considered one of the most deadly in all of college football, the Buckeyes showcased their talent in a dominant second half over Virginia Tech Monday night and will look to carry that momentum back home with them this weekend. Fans hoping to attend Saturday’s game are in luck, too, as it will have the least expensive Ohio State football tickets on the secondary market this year.
According to TiqIQ, the average secondary market price for Ohio State vs Hawaii tickets is now $128.16, marking a 39.6% discount below the team’s season average of $212.05 at The Horseshoe in 2015. It is one of just three games in Columbus that fall below the $200 average on the secondary market, which also includes consecutive games against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan later this month. The cheapest ticket to Saturday afternoon’s game is now $52, easily the lowest get-in price among all seven home games this season.
It will take a near miracle for Hawaii to come out of Ohio victorious this weekend, but the team looked commendable in its season opener against Colorado. With head coach Norm Chow beginning his fourth season at Hawaii, the Warriors upset the Buffaloes 28-20 and saw USC transfer and new starting quarterback Max Wittek throw three touchdown passes in the process. Ohio State will be nothing short of an opponent, however, as the Buckeyes have quickly grown to become an imposing threat on both sides of the football.
While Ohio State’s return hasn’t garnered impressively high ticket demand on the secondary market, Saturday’s game is one of epic proportions for Hawaii. With national attention shifting its gaze to Ohio this weekend, it will be the Warriors’ most expensive game they have played in since at least 2010, when TiqIQ began recording secondary market ticket data. It trumps the team’s previous top-priced game against USC in Los Angeles in 2012, where tickets averaged $126.20.
Saturday’s affair is likely to be a lopsided victory in favor of Ohio State, one that would further emphasize just how lethal the team will be on the field this season. In a return that will undoubtedly see the stands of Ohio Stadium engulfed in red and white, fans still searching for tickets will find the lowest prices all season long on the secondary market.
