The NY Post is reporting that New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher and Grizzles guard Matt Barnes got into a fight Saturday night in LA. Barnes is upset that Fisher is dating his ex-wife Gloria. Here are the details on the fight.
Derek was in Gloria’s back yard with about 10 people having a bonfire on Saturday,” said a source. “Derek’s separated from his wife and there’s a relationship with [Gloria]…Barnes was in Santa Barbara [at Memphis Grizzlies training camp] and heard that Fisher was in his house. He went crazy. He got in his car and went to the house and went after Fisher.”
Barnes drove 95 miles to get his hands on Fisher. According to Yahoo Sports, Barnes has known about the relationship for over a month, so no word on what exactly set him off.
Here is what happened when Barnes got to the house.
Barnes found Fisher, 41, in the backyard with Gloria and family members, and the altercation escalated from there, into the kitchen and then the home’s front room, one witness said.
Fisher filed for divorce from his wife in March.
Fisher is considering legal action for the incident, sources said, but had not yet filed any charges.
They both ended up with some minor scrapes, but no serious injuries. The cops were called, but no one was arrested. Gloria is thinking of filing a restraining order.
Fisher and Barnes are former teammates and friends, so the question begs did Fisher violate the guy code or did Barnes take it too far?
Something to consider as the NBA looks into the matter.
