Kendall Marshall isn’t the only one in his family who is upset about him bringing in the New Year on the bench. Marshall’s Dad seems to think that his 4.3 pg, 3.9 ag, and 34 percent shooting aren’t the reason for his benching.
In a series of Tweets from a new deleted twitter account Marshall’s Dad Dennis takes shots at the Sixers and strongly implies that racism is the reason Marshall isn’t playing. Philly.com were able to transcribe the tweets before they were deleted.
“I always said there was racism in sports,” read the tweet, posted during Saturday’s setback to the Los Angeles Clippers. “White guys in basketball are getting every chance to succeed even when they aren’t doing (expletive).”
Here is what he had to say about Sixers Nik Stauskas.
“How are you a ‘shooter’ and shooting 27% from three?” that tweet read. “Can’t guard but play a lot. What do you think the reason is?”
It is more likely that Marshall just isn’t that good if he can’t crack the Sixers lineup. Parents don’t tend to be the most rational and unbiased observers, but by speaking out Marshall’s dad didn’t do anything to help his son’s plight.
