I don’t think Peter King is racist, I think sometimes he is just unaware how some of his comments come across.
Case in point.
GREEN BAY—This place is a reminder of how life in the United States used to be lived. Placid, lovely, friendly. Good night here.

If you are a minority the last thing you want to hear is how America was a better place when it was like lily-white Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Instead of understanding why someone might take his tweet as a Trumpish style “Make America Great Again” style tweet he got defensive.
America.
Where whatever you say, it’s assumed you’re racist.— Peter King (@SI_PeterKing) July 27, 2016
If more white people would just try to understand why minorities are sensitive to these type of comments instead of just brushing them off the world would be a better place.
A minority doesn’t want to go back in time where certain rights and privileges weren’t afforded to them, they want to move forward.
Instead of being upset at being called a racist, it would have been nice for King to understand the climate we are in as a society and be a bit more understanding, but I guess that was too much to ask for.
