Following Saturday night’s pay-per-view event, former champion Daniel Jacobs isn’t shying away from his belief that he should have been victorious against Gennady Golovkin.
Following the decision loss at Madison Square Garden, Jacobs spoke to TMZ.com and shares his thoughts on GGG’s power being a facade, and explains why he believes he is the superior middleweight.
The fact that i went the distance, the fact that I hurt him, the fact that I pushed him back and showed my boxing skills. I definitely think I didn’t lose on the part of having fans and gaining fans and gaining that momentum in my next fight coming up.
I do believe i am the best middleweight fighter in the world.
Jacobs goes on to say he’s interested in a rematch but is unsure if, or when, his team can come to terms with Golovkin’s team. With no negotiated rematch clause, it’s unlikely Jacobs will get his wish anytime in the near future as Golovkin continues to set his sights on Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez.
HBO is set to rebroadcast the fight on Saturday.
