Conor McGregor is pushing hard for a rematch vs Floyd Mayweather, according to UFC President Dana White. He went on to say that McGregor was not pleased at all with his performance against Mayweather in Vegas and wants to redeem himself.
Contrary to McGregor, White was pleased with the way he handled himself in the ring vs Mayweather despite critics saying he could not handle a boxing match.
“I told Conor what you did was amazing. I was sitting there with my partner Lorenzo Fertitta and I kept saying, ‘Oh my god, we found this kid in Ireland four years ago. He’s going into the sixth round with Floyd Mayweather. He’s going into the seventh round with Floyd Mayweather.’ (BoxingScene.com)
White knows how bad McGregor wants a shot at Mayweather again but he wants McGregor to defend his title in UFC and focus more on his own sport again.
“I know deep down he would do that Mayweather fight again, but he needs to get back to MMA and defend his title,” said White.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the top contenders in UFC and had a very convincing win vs Edson Barboza at UFC 219 in Vegas as he improved to 25-0. He recently told TMZ.com that he would go as far as fighting McGregor for free just to get a chance to score a win against him. This comes after McGregor took to Twitter to say that Nurmagomedov’s fight wasn’t entertaining and trashed his home country of Dagestan.
Nurmagomedov clapped back saying that Dagestan has produced more UFC fighters than Ireland and that he’s ready to take on McGregor. He also said that he’ll fight as many rounds as possible.
