The fact that Edwin Rodriguez is making a million to fight Andre Ward might be the greatest heist in boxing history.
No one outside of hardcore boxing fans know Rodriguez and he hasn’t beaten anyone of note. Putting his resume up against Ward would be like comparing Alabama to a Division III school.
Considering this will be his biggest payday ever there is no way he should have jeopardize the fight by being overweight, but that is exactly what he did.
He couldn’t make the 168 limit (weighed 170), so he has to give up $200k and the fight now becomes a non-title fight.
Not very professional on Edwin Rodriguez’s part and frankly because he was killing himself to make weight, don’t expect much from him on Saturday night.
